Etched Wooden Pendant

I've had this pendant for a while now and I can't quite come up with a design I liked. I tried knotting some bone and shell accents on twine, but it didn't look right. Instead, I went back to beading basics and did a multi-colored, 5 strand bead string. Seems like I should have gone simple all along. It's a great pendant and really should stay the focus of the piece.

Owls, Owls Everywhere

My friend recently did her nursery with an owl theme and I just LOVE it! It seems like birds and owls are everywhere these days. And of course I had to jump on the bandwagon! I bought a whole bunch of these owl pendants a while ago and have used them in a couple of pieces already. This one though, I especially loved. So much so, that I made one for myself only in different colors. This one uses green and beige rock beads to give it more of an earthy vibe.

And I even made matching earrings.....

P is for Peacock

Another great trend I'm loving lately is the peacock. The combo of blue and green really compliment each other nicely. So when I found a couple of peacock pendants I had to use them!

You may remember my golden leaves necklace from earlier this year. I wanted to remake it, but was having trouble finding the leaves. Instead, I found some other leaves and decided to make a slightly different version of the original necklace. I made one in gold and one in silver. I still like the three strand version better, but for a more simple look, I went with a single strand style.

Trees of Green

In preparation for the holiday season, my cousin asked me to make some more jewelry for her shop, Tree House Treasures. I did some searching around for more "woodsy" type pieces and absolutely fell in love with this tree pendant. I got some in the pewter color and some in a brushed bronze color. I had some left over green rocks that I thought would go perfect with the pewter pendant. And it did!

Pink Shells and Pearls

The draped, multi-tiered necklaces are definitely in right now. As a designer, I've got to keep up with the latest trends, so I decided to try one out. I kind of like it. It's got a little vintage feel with the filigree and the pearls. The pink shells just give it a little pop of feminine color. And when I showed it to my great-aunt, she wanted to buy it right away!

Little Red Rocks

One of my favorite colors is red.  It's fun, it's bold, and it's sexy. There's nothing better than a nice bright pop of red. Unfortunately, it's a miserable day outside and I couldn't get really good lighting for the photos. Sorry about that!  I did take a flash picture so you can see how neat the beads are.

Golden Leaves

Words cannot explain how much I love this necklace. It's even gold, and I'm not a huge gold fan. But I found these 5 leaf pendants and I just couldn't break them up into multiple pieces. They had to stay together. And this is the result. Simple and elegant. Love it!

Turquoise and Black Hoop Earrings

One of my favorite materials is turquoise. It's vibrant, but pairs nicely with black and silver accents. Wear it with simple black or white and the color just seems to jump right out at you! I'm still fairly new to the earring realm, but I had some silver hoop elements and fiddled around to see what I could make them into. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with the results!

Three Strand Flower Toggle Necklace

I am really loving the long, drapey necklaces that are "in" right now. There are so many different styles that it was hard to pick which one to go with for my first attempt. I recently bought some flower toggle clasps and kind of went from there. I love how the subtle lavender and pearl accents the silver chain!!

Off to the Woods...

My mom's cousin retired to the Sequoia National Forest a few years ago. Her ultimate dream was to open a gift shop there and lucky for her, she was able to do that very thing. When I saw her over Thanksgiving, she asked me if I would be interested in making jewelry for her shop. Yeah...I didn't have to really give that one much thought!!

So, because her gift shop is in the woods, she wanted me to make some woodsy-type pieces. I was perusing my favorite bead shops and found two very neat looking pedants that I thought would be perfect for her woodsy theme:

Mr. Owl (isn't he cute? I might have to get another one and make one for myself!!)

Shellacked Wood

Now to come up with some additional woodsy-themed pieces!!
